    Washington Twp. trustees to discuss tax budget

    Highlights of the July 15 meeting of Washington Township trustees:

    Department reports

    Park – No report.

    Zoning – Two land splits. Trustees approved a motion to send a notice to mow and remove a car on property in the 1200 block of East Beech Street.

    Fire – As of meeting date, department had responded to 262 runs for the year. Hose testing was complete, funeral services for former Chief Terry Wilson were held July 15. Trustees approved a motion to purchase an exhaust fan from Atlantic for $4,500.00.

    Road – Downed tree was removed on Mahoning, and a stop sign was repaired at at Salem Church and Hartzell. Township is storing 100 tons of winter road salt for Minerva. Stark County paid $895.64 to repair a guard rail on Moulin.

    Other action

    • Comments from visitors included residents sharing opinions about the proposed solar farm in the township.
    • Trustees also discussed mulch at the park and the Ohio Auditor’s Office fraud training.

    UPCOMING − Trustees have set a work session at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 6 to discuss the alternative tax budget for 2025 with the fiscal officer. The next regular trustees meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at Township Hall. Trustees changed the meeting date because of the Ohio Siting Board public hearing about the proposed solar project in Washington Township. The hearing will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 5 at Marlington High School.
