The highest amount possible to receive is $4,873, reserved for the highest-income earners who retired at 70. However, a person is eligible to begin receiving payments when they turn 62, but one would only be eligible for up to $2,710.

Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of a month will receive their checks on Aug. 21, and retirees born on or after the 21st of a month will receive their payments on Aug. 28.

Payments in 2024 are adjusted by 3.2% from 2023 to reflect cost-of-living increases due to inflation.

This article using old information on Social Security is a blatant representation of misinformation. June 2024 unemployment is only slightly higher than the low of 3.4% in April. Currently at 4.1%Job growth is down 2.1% from the previous quarter, but is still solid with June job gains in government, healthcare, social assistance. If the government had not borrowed from Social Security funds, we would be in much better shape. Social Security is not an entitlement it is money paid by workers and employers.
