California Sheriff Mike Boudreaux rebuked Vice President Kamala Harris’s new campaign ad, which featured him without his permission and was “deceiving, to say the least.”

The new ad portrays Harris as a presidential candidate who has been tough on border security during her time as both a state prosecutor and vice president. In the first 10 seconds of the ad, Boudreaux, the sheriff of Tulare County in California , is spotted toward the right, prompting him to issue a statement saying that he did not consent to being in the ad and does not support Harris’s 2024 bid for president.

“Well, I can say that here in California, we’re ready for someone that is going to support law enforcement,” Boudreaux said on Fox & Friends. “Kamala Harris and law enforcement in California, we’re very familiar with her and how she has done over the course of years, as a senator, as prosecutor, and as the attorney general. And I can tell you that this ad is deceiving, to say the least.”

Boudreaux reflected on the time when he stood next to Harris during the press briefing in the new ad, during which she showed up “for a soundbite” and then left afterward without shaking anyone’s hand. He argued it was “truly disheartening” that the ad might make some believe that he and the other lawmakers in the ad support Harris when they do not.

“We do not support Kamala Harris. She has a history of not supporting law enforcement, and I just wanted to come out and say that for me and Tulare County, the sheriff of Tulare County, looking out for victims, looking for someone who’s going to support criminal justice and law enforcement, that is represented by Donald Trump and not Kamala Harris,” Boudreaux said.

The release of Harris’s ad comes as she is working to flip the script on her handling of various issues facing the country , including the southern border. Harris has accused former President Donald Trump , the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential candidate, of talking “a big game about border security,” but not wanting to put in the work to “walk the walk.”

The Washington Examiner’s Byron York added that he “had to laugh” at Harris’s about-face on her focus on the border, arguing that she is “responsible” for the mass influx of illegal immigration in the country. He also doubted that Harris could effectively turn her reputation around on this topic, as she is “so indelibly associated” with the Biden administration’s record on it.

The Washington Examiner has contacted Harris's campaign for comment.
