Blocking traffic in the Bay is illegal again

Sometimes, all it takes to prosecute terrorist-sympathizing criminals is a district attorney who is not a terrorist sympathizer.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins is charging 26 “pro-Palestinian” protesters for blocking traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge for more than four hours. Their actions led to families with children being stranded without water and a surgeon having to cancel his surgeries for the day. The charges include false imprisonment, trespassing to interfere with business, and conspiracy, including eight protesters being charged with felonies.

Jenkins is a more traditional Democratic prosecutor, not one of the pro-criminal district attorneys who have taken over the justice system in New York City, Los Angeles, and other Democratic-run cities. She has sought waivers to San Francisco’s sanctuary city status in some cases and ramped up prosecutions for car burglary to drive down car burglary numbers. Jenkins is a Democratic district attorney who — get this — actually thinks crime is bad.

Jenkins may not be perfect, but she is a far cry from the pro-criminal district attorneys who have come to power over the last few years. She is also a far cry from her predecessor, Chesa Boudin, the son of domestic terrorists who based his criminal justice worldview on the perceived injustice of his terrorist parents being locked up. Boudin was recalled in 2022 after even San Francisco Democratic voters became fed up with him prioritizing the wants of criminals over the public safety needs of civilians.

Sometimes, you just need someone at the wheel of the justice system who cares a little more about protecting the public from criminals than helping criminals avoid justice. Were Boudin still in power now, you can bet that San Francisco would not be prosecuting 26 terrorist-sympathizing protesters for stranding hundreds of people on a bridge. It’s more likely Boudin would be trying to throw them a parade. Or at least he would throw a parade so the protesters could block that, too.
