While the Democratic National Convention will serve as a national pitch for Vice President Kamala Harris 's White House bid, former President Donald Trump 's campaign is not sitting idly as the Democrats gather in Chicago.
The Trump campaign announced a slew of events with the presidential nominee and Trump's running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), in several key battleground states. The events will center on several key issues of the campaign, including the economy, crime, national security, and immigration.
On Monday, Trump will host an event on the economy in York, Pennsylvania, while Vance will hold an event on the same topic in Philadelphia. Trump and Vance will hold events about crime on Tuesday, with Trump going to Detroit, Michigan, and Vance going to Kenosha, Wisconsin.
On Wednesday, Trump and Vance will hold an event focusing on national security in North Carolina, while on Thursday, Trump and Vance will host individual events about immigration . Trump's Thursday event will be in Montezuma Pass, Arizona, while Vance's event that day will be in Valdosta, Georgia.
Trump will hold two events on Friday, including a rally in Glendale, Arizona, and an event focusing on his "no tax on tips" proposal in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Republican's campaign said it is hoping to provide a contrast to the DNC, where they claim Harris's campaign will "hide behind celebrities because everyday families know that she has been an absolute disaster for our nation."
"As they meet Americans where they are in battleground states across the country, President Trump and Senator Vance will remind voters that under their leadership, we can end inflation, protect our communities from violent criminals, secure the border, and Make America Great Again,” Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in a statement Sunday.
While Trump will be campaigning in key swing states, the campaign has also said it will hold press conferences in Chicago, where the DNC is being held, for each day of the convention, where Trump allies will boost the former president 's bid to return to the White House.

While Trump's campaign traverses the key battleground states, they will look to improve polling which has shown Harris close the gap the former president had when President Joe Biden was at the top of the Democratic ticket.
The Democratic National Convention, where Harris is scheduled to accept the party's nomination in a prime-time speech on Thursday, will begin on Monday in Chicago. Other notable speakers include Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
