Harris might not even need to appear knowledgeable

Apart from scripted rally speeches, Vice President Kamala Harris has granted no media appearances since her takeover of the Democratic ticket from President Joe Biden .

That was until after a campaign event in Pennsylvania on Monday when she answered a question on how she envisions paying for her proposed economic policies. Harris gave viewers an early taste of her incoherence as she spoke in circles about “return on investment” covering all the costs. Some critics of Harris’s interview avoidance say she is ill-prepared for the presidency and has little actual policy knowledge, while others, such as Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), attribute it to her “chameleon” -like approach to what she presents to the public.

Either way, it does not seem that much of Harris’s voting bloc cares about her ability to field questions. This lack of response may be due to a decreasing commitment to organized religion in the United States.

Belief in the culture has taken the place of religion. People, primarily on the Left, no longer have a need for coherent lines of reasoning since worldviews divorced from the dictates of religious life require no justification beyond human reason. The Democratic Party pushes various platforms consistent with liberal trends of society, and those adherents to the liberal trends stand on the platform fashioned for them. It is a shallow cycle exhibited in rapidly radicalizing factions like the LBGT and pro-abortion movements. Positions evolve and demands increase, and corporations match their intensity with little hesitation.

Harris’s most devoted followers disregard concrete realities of the Harris-Walz ticket, such as the allowance for Gov. Tim Walz’s (D-MN) “stolen valor” dishonesty and Harris’s refusal to present her ideas to the public, in favor of policy advancement. Democrats today rally behind Harris and Walz’s transgender activism while blind to illegal immigration as the more pressing matter.

This love of unreality comes through best at events like the Democratic National Convention . Women who dress as abortion pills to protest “limited” abortion access are not in touch with any political reality. They are not seeking to be taken seriously because they know they do not need to appeal to sensibility. Likewise, signs that read, “Keep your God off my bod” or “Your Bible does not fit in my uterus” showcase a sect that is not just unreligious but anti-religion. The dialogue here between those pro- and anti-religion is a nonstarter: Not only do the two disagree on fundamental principles, but progressive anti-religion activists cannot give their positions solid definitions without sacrificing endless liberal expansion of them.

Young women are leaving religion at quicker rates than any other group, so it makes sense that the most outlandish examples touch on social issues. While there is little that either a Republican or Democratic win this November can do definitively for American religiosity, if the Trump-Vance campaign is successful at being the ticket of reality, it will be a step in the right direction.
