The Democratic National Convention has been an opportunity to praise the presidential ticket led by Vice President Kamala Harris , but a handful of Republicans are also making the case for her.

Those Republicans all share one thing in common: They are vehemently opposed to former President Donald Trump . Some of them used to work for him, and others have been driven out of public life and of their party because they refused to support him.

Here are the Republicans who have spoken or will speak at the DNC this week in Chicago.

    Stephanie Grisham

Grisham served in the Trump White House in multiple roles, including as press secretary from 2019 to 2020 and as chief of staff to then-first lady Melania Trump from 2020 until 2021. She was one of the White House officials who resigned after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

Grisham addressed the DNC on Tuesday evening, saying in her roughly two-minute speech that she would support Harris because "I love my country more than my party."

“When I was press secretary, I got skewered for never holding a White House briefing,” Grisham told the convention. “It’s because, unlike my boss, I never wanted to stand at that podium and lie. Now here I am behind a podium advocating for a Democrat, and that’s because I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects the American people. And she has my vote.”

    Olivia Troye

Troye was an adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence during the Trump administration but left in 2020, citing her concern over the administration's handling of COVID-19. In 2020, Retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg said at a White House briefing that he had fired her, rather than her claim that she resigned from the administration.

She has been a vocal critic of Trump since leaving the administration in 2020, endorsing President Joe Biden in 2020 and endorsing Harris in 2024. Troye is part of the "Republicans for Harris" coalition and is scheduled to address the convention Wednesday.

    John Giles

Giles, the Republican mayor of Mesa, Arizona, has been a critic of Trump and the state of the GOP, despite still being registered with the party. He has frequently endorsed Democrats in the past two election cycles.

He addressed the DNC on Tuesday evening, invoking the late Sen. John McCain, who was blown out by then-Sen. Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election.

"I have an urgent message for the majority of Americans who, like me, are in the political middle: John McCain's Republican Party is gone, and we don't owe a damn thing to what's been left behind," Giles said.

    Geoff Duncan

Duncan, the former lieutenant governor of Georgia, has been an avid critic of Trump since the former president lost the state in the 2020 election and attempted to overturn the results.

He endorsed Biden and later Harris in the 2024 election and has said that Trump's character and conduct disqualify him for office.

Duncan will speak at the DNC on Wednesday evening.

    Adam Kinzinger

Kinzinger, who served in the House from 2011 until 2023, has also been a vocal critic of Trump since his bid to overturn the 2020 election results, specifically after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

He served on the Jan. 6 House select committee from 2021 until it dissolved at the end of the 117th Congress. Kinzinger has regularly attacked Trump and Republicans aligned with him. The former congressman endorsed Biden a day before the president's disastrous June debate and later endorsed Harris after he dropped out.

Kinzinger is scheduled to speak on the final day of the convention.

The Democratic National Convention will go through Thursday evening, when Harris accepts the party's nomination for president.
