Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) ripped the Biden-Harris administration on Wednesday for attempting to indict former President Donald Trump a second time in an election case brought forth by special counsel Jack Smith .

The prosecutor filed a superseding indictment against the former president on Tuesday after retooling his arguments following the Supreme Court’s landmark presidential immunity decision in July.

"The swamp doesn't believe Trump ought to be president so they will do everything under the sun to get him," Scott said on Newsmax.

"This is complete election interference and the American public needs to wake up," he added.

The Florida senator also said, "The Biden-Harris administration, all they want to do is do everything they can to indict Trump, convict Trump, put Trump in jail, whatever it is to try to win the election. They'll go to any means."

Scott said what Smith is doing is "disgusting" and compared it to Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro's actions against his own citizens.

In the 36-page indictment, Smith is still charging Trump with the same four felonies: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Scott followed up with a post on X ripping the indictment.

"While the President of the United States sits incapacitated on a beach, the ruling class has installed a new radical candidate without a single vote, and seeks to ignore the Supreme Court & jail their political opponent by any means necessary," Scott wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The Florida senator added, "The taxpayer-funded lawfare against @realDonaldTrump is shameless and disgusting. But we won’t stand for it and President Trump will NEVER BACK DOWN."

Trump slammed the indictment on his social media platform Truth Social, calling the indictment "an act of desperation" and "an attempt to INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION, and distract the American People from the catastrophes Kamala Harris has inflicted on our Nation."

Last month, Smith's attempts to prosecute Trump were thwarted in a Florida case when Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case against Trump on the grounds that the appointment of Smith to the prosecution violated the Constitution.
