President Joe Biden will make his first visit to Wisconsin next week since exiting the presidential race.

Biden will campaign next Thursday in a to-be-announced location in the southwestern portion of the state. Biden will highlight his "Investing in America agenda" and how it is "benefiting communities across Wisconsin and ensuring Americans have a brighter, more prosperous future," an administration official told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Biden's visit is also expected to focus on the problems facing small towns and rural America. More than half of Wisconsin voters in 2020 came from small towns and rural areas, according to the Associated Press.

This year, Biden has made at least five visits to the state. He last campaigned in Wisconsin in a visit to Madison in July following the presidential debate, which led to his exit from the race.

He and Vice President Kamala Harris plan to be in Pittsburgh as part of the Labor Day holiday. It is unclear at this time if Harris will join Biden in Wisconsin. The Washington Examiner reached out to the Harris campaign about whether she would join Biden but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Biden and Harris visited Maryland earlier this month to discuss the administration's work to lower prescription drug costs in their first joint campaign event since Harris replaced Biden at the top of the ticket.

Those familiar with the matter had said Biden would be deployed "strategically" to states he won in 2020. He is also expected to campaign with demographics he performs well with, such as older voters, and touch on some of the Biden administration's policies regarding infrastructure and lowering drug prices.

After Biden left the race, Harris started her campaign in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis . She also visited Eau Claire, Wisconsin, earlier this month alongside her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). Walz will visit Wisconsin next week, making a campaign stop in Milwaukee on Monday with his wife, Gwen Walz.

Former President Donald Trump is also expected to visit La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Thursday for a town hall moderated by former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who recently endorsed him. He will also visit Michigan on Thursday.

Wisconsin is one of several battleground states set to determine the outcome of the 2024 election. The Badger State has a near-even split between voters registered as Democrats and Republicans. In 2016 , Trump flipped Wisconsin red for the first time since 1984 by a little more than 27,000 votes. While in 2020 , Biden flipped the state back to blue by only 20,000 votes.

A new poll from Hill-Emerson College revealed Harris and Trump neck and neck in the state, with Trump slightly polling ahead at 49% to Harris's 48%. Among independent voters, however, Harris holds a steady lead by 9 points in Wisconsin.
