Biden is our absentee president for another five months

After giving up on his reelection campaign, President Joe Biden decided that he doesn’t have to pretend to care about his job, which leaves the country with an absentee president for another five months.

Biden has been on vacation nearly every day since he dropped out of the 2024 presidential race. Most recently, he jumped from vacationing in California to vacationing in Delaware. In total, Biden has spent more than 70 additional days of vacation in Delaware compared to the number of days former President George W. Bush spent vacationing at his Texas ranch and nearly 90 more days than former President Donald Trump did at his golf courses.

While electoral politics and much of the liberal media have forgotten about Biden, the fact remains that he is still the president. The world does not operate on the United States's political timeline, and the country's adversaries aren’t going to sit around for five months while Biden neglects to do his job until he is replaced. Important decisions still need to be made by Biden, who has obviously checked out of his job and already has a track record of making terrible decisions when he actually is trying.

Case in point: The U.S. Agency for International Development staff objected to Biden’s decision to build a shoddy and ill-thought-out pier to deliver aid to Gaza. Biden proposed this terrible plan in his State of the Union address to try and calm the antisemitic activists in his voting base and then pushed it through despite USAID's objections that it would be ineffective. The pier project wasted (at least) $320 million in taxpayer dollars, mostly aided Hamas terrorists instead of civilians, and put U.S. soldiers’ lives at risk.

Again, all of that happened when Biden was supposedly paying attention and trying to do his job. If Biden was willing to ignore his own experts to push such a reckless policy, then how disastrous of a decision would he make in a foreign conflict now that he is going to spend the next five months lounging on a beach instead of doing the job he was elected to do?

Iran and Russia are continuing to escalate wars, nuclear threats, and election interference efforts. Do you trust an elderly, vacation-focused Biden to make an informed decision about any of that?

Democrats forced Biden to drop his reelection campaign because he was old and incapable of winning an election, but they were content to let him continue to serve as president. Vice President Kamala Harris, liberal media, and other elected Democrats want everyone to ignore that they propped Biden up, so they now refuse to demand he step down. This puts the country at risk for another five months just so Democrats can protect their electoral chances.
