Kamala Harris took 39 days to say nothing at all

The Democratic Party successfully cocooned Kamala Harris for 39 days since President Joe Biden coronated his vice president , giving the new presidential nominee more than five weeks to prepare her own answers to the inevitable inquiries about her radical record as the most left-wing member of the Senate, the inflation wrought by Bidenomics, and the growing list of complete policy reversals as a result of her newfound candidacy . But despite answering fewer than a dozen questions in the more than a month since becoming the ostensible future of the Democratic Party, Harris conjured nothing more than a feast of world salads during her first-ever interview as nominee with CNN's Dana Bash . Or, that is to say, Harris said nothing of consequence at all.

Does Harris, who used to repeatedly assert that "an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal," still believe that illegally entering or remaining in the country should not constitute a crime?

"I believe there should be consequences," said Harris. "We have laws that have to be followed and enforced that address and deal with people who cross our border illegally, and there should be consequences."

What about Harris's prior support for a ban on fracking? Bash had to repeatedly press Harris, who thrice seemed to deny or ignore her past support for the fracking ban, but when Harris was ready to confront reality, how did she defend her total 180 on the issue?

"What I have seen is that we can, we can grow and we can increase a thriving clean energy economy without banning fracking," said Harris.

Does Harris believe that Bidenomics, which saw a 20% increase in prices and a 4% decrease in real average wages since she took office, was a success?

"I maintain that when we do the work of bringing down prescription medications for the American people, including capping the cost of the annual cost of prescription medication for seniors at $2,000; when we do what we did in the first year of being in office, to extend the child tax credit so that we cut child poverty in America by 50%; when we do what we have done to invest in the American people, in bringing manufacturing back to the United States, so that we created over 800,000 new manufacturing jobs, bringing business back to America; What we have done to improve the supply chain so we're not relying on foreign governments to supply American families with their basic means, I'll say that that's good work," said Harris. "There's more to do, but that's good work."

What about the easiest and most predictable of softballs, Harris's day one priorities should she actually beat former President Donald Trump for her boss's office?

"Well, there are a number of things," said Harris. "I will tell you first and foremost one of my highest priorities is to do what we can to strengthen and support the middle class. When I look at the aspirations, the goals, the ambitions of the American people, I think that people are ready for a new way forward, in a way that generations of Americans have been fueled by, by hope and by optimism. Sadly, in the last decade, we have had in the former president, someone who has really been pushing an agenda and an environment that is about diminishing the character and the strength of who we are as Americans, really dividing our nation, and I think people are ready to turn the page on that."

The rest of her day one answer, as well as the rest of her interview, relies on what she already said in her defense of Bidenomics. Harris touted expanding the child tax cuts four times, government price controls of groceries and medications another two times, and free cash from Uncle Sam's money printer countless times. But after more than a month of coddling, caressing, and cult constructing from the media, Harris could come up with nothing of substance to say in defense of her own candidacy. If she can't handle the even-tempered examination of Dana Bash, how the hell will she handle the terror of Donald Trump?
