WATCH: California parents fight Gov. Newsom’s SAFETY Act

Parents throughout the state of California are fighting back against Gov. Gavin Newsom 's (D-CA) SAFETY Act , which is set to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.

Assembly Bill 1955 essentially allows students to declare a different gender identity to their teachers. These are considered to be private discussions in which the parents are not notified.

“So if you're 6 years old and you think you are a boy, when you're genetically a girl, and you go to your counselor, that's something that we should have to work on,” said Jim Miller Jr. , the president of the Cajon Valley Union School District’s Board of Trustees.

Miller created the Parental Bill of Rights to empower parents while setting boundaries for teachers and administrators.
