J6 Awards Gala postponed due to scheduling conflict with speakers

A fundraising event on behalf of those who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 , 2021, which was scheduled to be held at former President Donald Trump 's New Jersey golf club Thursday, was indefinitely postponed after scheduling conflicts, according to the event's website .

The J6 Awards Gala is sponsored by the Stand in the Gap Foundation, which is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide "unwavering support to January 6th defendants and their families during their time of incarceration."

A date and location for a future gala has not yet been scheduled.

In a statement to Fox Business , LJ Fino, an event organizer, said the gala was postponed due to “scheduling conflicts of invited guest speakers.”

Trump was listed as an invited speaker, alongside confirmed speakers, such as former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani and conservative comedian Anthony Raimondi, but the Trump campaign told USA TODAY that the former president would not be attending.

The gala was set to raise money and pay tribute to "all J6 defendants who have shown incredible courage and sacrifice." More than 1,400 people have been charged in the attack on the Capitol. The former president is facing federal election interference charges that allege he played a part in inciting the mob. Approximately 140 police officers were assaulted that day.

Tickets for the event ranged from $1,500 per person for a general admission ticket to $50,000 for a “platinum” 12-person table, according to MSNBC .
