Mother who lost son to border crisis says Harris showed no ‘compassion’ in debate

A mother who lost her 15-year-old son to fentanyl as a result of the border crisis under the Biden-Harris administration said that Vice President Kamala Harris showed no "compassion" for families like her's during Tuesday's debate .

"I didn't see any compassion at the debate," Anne Funder, a mother whose teenage son Weston died in 2022 after ingesting fentanyl, told Laura Ingraham of Fox News Wednesday. "She really didn't give any true path to protections for American citizens."

"She mentioned about her amazing border bill that all the Republicans shot down. That bill did nothing for any American citizens. It only protected immigrants coming into this country and gave a lot of money to the Ukraine."

Harris is the "Border Czar" but has no real plan to stymie the crisis that took her son's life, according to Funder, who cited a Harris tweet where the vice president claimed she had been appointed by President Joe Biden to be in charge of the border.

"She has failed miserably," Funder said. "She doesn't have a plan, and because of her and her disastrous border policy, my son is gone."

Despite her loss, Funder does not feel that Democrats are listening to her story or taking claims like hers seriously.

Funder was one of several victims of the border crisis that testified before Congress Tuesday, and she detailed the recalcitrant attitudes of the Democrat members.

"They didn't care to hear," she said. "Congressman Nadler had his head down the whole time, and he was staring at his phone. Congresswoman Escobar, she was just insulting saying, you know, that the right was extorting us, and I think that her comment was extorting us more than anything."

Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) and Democrats were "offensive" in their refusal to ask questions to the victims, according to Funder.

"They have done nothing, and they know they've done nothing, and they have failed Americans," she said. "This is our country, and they're not keeping Americans safe. They're letting people over the border. They're letting fentanyl flood into this country. They're letting criminals flood into this country, and nothing is being done about it."
