A day after a bomb threat closed the Springfield, Ohio , City Hall, three schools in the city closed due to bomb threats .

The Springfield City School District said Friday that two schools had to be evacuated, and another school was closed over bomb threats mentioning the buildings. Officials did not specify a motivation behind the threats.

"This morning, Perrin Woods and Snowhill Elementary students were evacuated from their buildings to an alternate district location for parent pick-up after the Springfield Police Division received bomb threats that mentioned those buildings. Additionally, Roosevelt Middle School was closed prior to the beginning of the school day in relation to the same information received," the district's Superintendent Robert Hill said in a message to families Friday.

"There are no additional threats to any SCSD buildings. The District Safety Team and Administration continues to work with local, state, and federal authorities to investigate the threats received regarding our schools," Hill added.

On Thursday, Students and staff at another school in the district, Fulton Elementary, were evacuated to a high school after a separate bomb threat. The City Hall was also closed Thursday after a bomb threat was made.

Springfield Mayor Rob Rue told the New York Times on Thursday that threats made earlier that day by email were a “hateful response to immigration in our town.”

Recent claims of Haitian immigrants stealing and eating the pets of Springfield residents have circulated online and thrust the city into the media spotlight.

City officials have denied the unfounded claims, however, they were repeated by former President Donald Trump during his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday.

“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating — they’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” Trump said during the debate.

“What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country and looking for — it’s happening in the towns all over the United States,” he added.

Springfield has seen some resources overwhelmed by the influx of Haitian migrants in recent years, but claims of pets being eaten have been flatly denied by local officials.
