The Secret Service said in a statement Monday that the agency is aware of a post from the New Hampshire Libertarian Party that appeared to encourage violence against Vice President Kamala Harris .

The state party sparked controversy on Sunday after one of its posts, which has since been deleted, said that "anyone who murders Kamala Harris would be an American hero" shortly after a second apparent assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump was stopped by the Secret Service.

The Secret Service said in a statement Monday that it is aware of the post made by the state party, but it declined to comment further on the matter.

“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the social media post made by the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, and as a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence. We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees," a spokesperson for the Secret Service said in a statement obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The New Hampshire Libertarian Party said on X that none of its members has "even received so much as a phone call from the Secret Service or FBI" as of Monday afternoon.

The New Hampshire Libertarian Party said in a lengthy statement on Monday that it would “never advocate” political assassinations.

“We would never advocate for the assassination of a tyrannical President. That's illegal,” the state party said in a statement posted to X . “We were merely acknowledging how some members would react to one. These feelings are no different than how many leftists reacted and continue to react to assassination attempts on Donald Trump.”

The state party’s post was sharply condemned by Libertarian Party presidential nominee Chase Oliver, who called the post “abhorrent.”

“I 100% condemn the statement from LPNH regarding Kamala Harris. It is abhorrent and should never have been posted,” Oliver said in a statement posted to X. “As Libertarians, we condemn the use of force, whether committed by governments, individuals, or other political entities.”

He continued, “LPNH’s statement should rightfully be condemned by all people.”

The state party’s X account called Oliver “an infiltrating leftist snake who doesn't understand the basic principles of libertarianism” in response.

Oliver won the Libertarian Party nomination in May after a lengthy nominating process that required several rounds of voting, beating out a candidate favored by the Mises Caucus, a more hard-line faction of the third party.

New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Chris Ager also condemned the New Hampshire Libertarian Party's original post, saying in a statement Monday that "comments by the Libertarian Party of NH suggesting the assassination of political figures, including VP Harris, are condemned in the strongest possible terms."

He continued, "There is no room for this type of dialogue. PERIOD.”

Nobody should be “assassinated” in this country. Unfortunately this country is no longer “ours”.
