911, please hold

With the advancements made in telecommunications from the 1990s to now, you would think phone calls could help people communicate and act faster than ever before. As always, the Democratic Party finds unique ways to stand in the way of that progress.

Despite how far phone technology has advanced, New York City now has the slowest 911 response time it has had since the 1990s, at over 15 minutes. That is a full five minutes longer than the times four years ago, when the widespread villainization of police officers during the Black Lives Matter summer of 2020 showed officers that Democratic city leaders would not have their backs.

As it turns out, that is a bad recipe for employee retention. The city has the fewest police officers it has had since 1990, when it had 1.5 million fewer people, according to the New York City Police Department’s union. More people, more traffic, fewer police officers, and rampant crime now have New Yorkers sitting on hold when calling in emergencies. It was the easiest equation to solve, and somehow, New York Democrats still got the wrong answer.

You could ease the strain of the police shortage and 911 busy tones by letting New Yorkers defend themselves, but that isn’t allowed. New York Democrats don’t believe in traditional gender roles, and they don’t believe in traditional crime roles, either. Victims who fight back are criminals, and criminals who are stopped from committing crimes are victims. You can’t get more inclusive than that.

New York City is devolving back to the 1990s in more ways than one, a throwback to a past of crime and slow response times during 911 calls. As it turns out, “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere,” unless you are trying to make it through to 911 during an emergency.
