Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Republican vice presidential nominee, agreed with a comment on X that said former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) could take a prominent position in Vice President Kamala Harris's Cabinet as secretary of defense or state.

Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, recently endorsed Harris, and the younger Cheney has campaigned with the vice president.

"This had never occurred to me, but he's exactly right," Vance told Breaking Points. "What's even more dangerous? Cheney would have political cover from the left."

"If you want the most unhinged member of the Cheney family declaring new wars every other month, vote for Kamala. Vote Trump for peace!" he added.

Liz Cheney would fit the mold Harris previously set when she said she would appoint a Republican to her Cabinet. Vance pointed out that Liz Cheney could earn a similar reputation to her father if appointed to a high-profile defense position in Harris's Cabinet. Dick Cheney has been smeared for pushing the Iraq War, a costly and casualty-ridden war for the United States.

Liz Cheney was previously asked if Harris's campaign had contacted her about a Cabinet position, but she said she hadn't spoken to them.

"I have not," Liz Cheney said in mid-September. "I'm very focused on Nov. 5, and I'm making sure that we elect good candidates like Colin Allred."

However, Harris might be hesitant about awarding Liz Cheney a Cabinet position. The vice president received considerable backlash from Muslim organizations over her involvement with Liz Cheney at an Oct. 3 campaign event.

The American Muslim 2024 Election Task Force called Liz Cheney an "anti-Muslim bigot and torture defender" and said the joint event could damage Harris with minority voters.

"Vice President Harris should have never hosted a campaign event alongside Liz Cheney, an anti-Muslim bigot and far-right war hawk who continues to openly endorse the crime of torture, including waterboarding," the task force said.

Harris has already been slipping away from former President Donald Trump in Michigan, where he has taken the lead in RealClearPolitics's polling average. Michigan has the largest chunk of Muslim voters in any state, so further involvement with Liz Cheney could further hurt Harris.

Liz Cheney also has a history of criticizing Harris and President Joe Biden.

She slammed Biden for choosing Harris as his vice president in 2020, calling her a "radical liberal."

However, despite her past misgivings with Harris, Liz Cheney has backed the vice president over Trump, whom she has criticized much more and voted to impeach during her time as a House member.
