Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue his battle against Iran's "terrorist proxies" after a drone sent from Lebanon hit his private home in Caesarea.

“The agents of Iran who tried to assassinate me and my wife today made a bitter mistake,” the prime minister said in a Saturday statement, adding that anyone who harms Israelis will pay “a heavy price.”

"You know, two days ago, we eliminated the mass murder [Hamas leader] Yahya Sinwar. As I’ve said, we’re in an existential war, and we’re continuing to the end," the Israeli leader said in a video while wearing sunglasses and walking through a sunny park. "And I want to say something else, I’m proud of our soldiers, I’m proud of our commanders, and I’m proud of you, the citizens of Israel ."

The drone strike on Netanyahu's home was seen as an assassination attempt by Hezbollah, one of Iran's proxies, after Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel about two weeks ago. Neither Netanyahu nor his wife was home at the time of Saturday's drone attack, and no casualties were reported.

In his video statement released in both Hebrew and English on Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, Netanyahu referred to Sinwar and Iran's influence.

"We took him out," the prime minister said. "And we’re continuing our battle with Iran’s other terrorist proxies."

Sinwar was considered to be the mastermind behind Hamas's Oct. 7, 2023, massacre of Israeli citizens that ignited the current conflict in the Middle East . His death was celebrated by Israel's leaders, as well as President Joe Biden and others in Washington, D.C., who considered a possible peace deal between Hamas and Israel to be more attainable.
