Shreveport Police Investigating Late-Night Carjacking
Shreveport Police were called to the scene of the Wendy's near the Pines Road Walmart at 11pm Wednesday (7/24/24) to reports of a carjacking. Upon arrival, SPD found the victim of the carjacking. The victim claims he was there to meet a woman he had been messaging on social media. According to the victim, when he arrived to meet the woman at Walmart, she complained of vehicle trouble.
Why Are Car Crashes in Shreveport Up Dramatically?
SHREVEPORT, LA - The latest numbers on problems on our roads is not good. Shreveport is seeing a dramatic spike in car crashes. These wrecks are happening all over the city. Police Chief Wayne Smith says we had just under 5,000 crashes in 2022 and more than 8,000 in 2023. Chief Smith says we are on pace to hit that 8,000 mark again this year. So far during 2024, there have been 4266 wrecks across the city.

SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport Police Department Searches for Robbery Suspect. On July 14, 2024, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery at 1606 North Market Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who stated that a black male and black female pulled up to the drive-thru window. The black female opened the door as if she had a weapon and demanded money. The black male ran around the vehicle with a bag, demanding the victim put the money inside.
Final phase of construction at PBS Pinchback Park to begin soon
CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA) - Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation has just wrapped up Phase 2 of improvements at PBS Pinchback Park, located on Jefferson Paige Road. Improvements in this phase include a new ADA-compliant restroom, a metal pavilion with a concreted foundation and tamper-proof lighting, and eight ADA-compliant picnic tables. These improvements cost a total of $400,000.
Shreveport water department still working to address discolored water
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport Department of Water & Sewerage says it’s still working to battle water discoloration due to high manganese levels. On Wednesday, July 24, department officials said crews and contractors continue to lower manganese levels, and that they’re strengthening their pipe-flushing efforts to speed up the process. Officials say they’ve increased and amplified testing to better help with needed treatment adjustments.
