This weekend, the best little festival for families will be at Centennial Park. It’s worth hopping in for at least an hour or two — it’s truly a good spot for a first show for even your smallest kids. There are a couple more outdoor choices this week: Head to Lascassas for the Watermelon Festival, or go north for an outdoor concert in White House. The Nashville Public Library also has a few great offerings this week: Two on our list are the Mommy & Me Barbie Workshop, where you can work on your braiding skills, and the other is a ballet storytime that is great for your youngest kids.

Revisiting and re-ranking Tennessee’s 2022 recruiting class
In college football, so much of a program’s success on its 12 to 15 game days hinges on what goes on the rest of the year. While the NCAA transfer portal offers programs another avenue toward roster-building and talent acquisition, traditional recruiting of high school prospects never stops, and even as the focus is shifting toward the incoming season, those official visits in June have become commitment announcements in July and into August before players kick off their own senior seasons, particularly for scorching-hot Tennessee. Head football coach Josh Heupel and the Vols are looking to build off blue-chip-laden classes in the previous two cycles and taking aim at a potential second top-10 class (or better) in three years, and they’ve reeled in 10 commitments for their 2025 (six) and 2026 (classes) since mid-July.
