Mt. Horeb Girl Scout Brownie Troop project benefits food pantry
The 3rd grade Girl Scout Brownie Troop from Mt. Horeb School stood outside ShopRite of Stirling on a recent Saturday to collect boxes and cans for the North Plainfield Food Pantry. The customers at the store were thrilled to generously supply groceries to help the girls complete their charity service project. ShopRite also graciously supplied the girls with a ShopRite gift card to contribute to the wonderful cause. The girls enjoyed using the gift card and shopped the aisles of ShopRite to gather additional supplies to add to their donations.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The 49th annual Monmouth County Fair has a date and a location. Rides, music, and food are scheduled to take over the East Freehold Showgrounds for five days later this month. There is a general admission charge to enter the venue, for adults and older kids.
Mike Arnone, seven-term assemblyman, dies at 91
Dr. Michael J. Arnone, an affable dentist from Red Bank who served more than fourteen years as a Republican assemblyman from Monmouth County, died on July 1. He was 91. Arnone chaired the Assembly Local Government and Housing Committee. He played a role in rolling back Gov. Jim Florio’s $2.8 billion tax increase after the GOP took control of the legislature in 1991, advocated for consolidated municipal services for small towns, and pushed for a constitutional amendment to permit a two-tiered property tax rate in urban areas. He was a staunch supporter of Monmouth County’s horse racing industry. He was a sponsor of Megan’s Law.

The Honorees – Ross Wishnick, Send Hunger Packing Princeton. As a former home-building mogul and bank founder, Ross Wishnick has covered a lot of ground in his working life, though his true achievements shine through his service to his surrounding communities. Mr. Wishnick was a member of (2009 to 2020) and chaired the Princeton Human Services Commission, which provides services to youths and seniors in general assistance and advocacy for this segment of the local population. As part of this Commission, Mr. Wishnick took the lead on founding Send Hunger Packing Princeton (2013-present), which provides fresh produce for students and families requesting participation. SHUPP has grown to now include access to raised bed gardens throughout Princeton and Free Pantries constantly being restocked with shelf stable food, accessible 24 hours per day also located in number of locations throughout Princeton. Mr. Wishnick was also a member of the advisory board of the Princeton Education Foundation (PEF) (2010-2013). PEF supports excellence in Princeton Regional Schools by contributing raised funds for capital improvements, educational programs and teacher support. Ross Wishnick is a founding board member of The Bank of Princeton and has served as a vice Chairman since the bank’s founding in 2007. Most recently Mr. Wishnick has joined the board of Isles, a Trenton based non-profit founded in 1981. Its mission is to help support and sustain self-reliant individuals and families and healthy sustainable communities.

Princeton Advances Two Boats To Henley Semifinals
The Fourth of July was a day off for the Princeton heavyweight rowers at the Henley Royal Regatta. The Fifth of July brought its own fireworks for the Tigers. Princeton had two boats row Friday at Henley, and both won their races to advance to Saturday's semifinal rounds. This is now the second straight year, and 30th and 31st time overall, that Princeton has had boats reach the semifinal round at the world's oldest regatta.
