KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Several roads in East Tennessee are closed due to flooding and damage caused by strong storms that passed through the region on Wednesday.
In parts of East Tennessee, the storms brought up to golf ball sized hail , strong wind gusts and heavy rain. In Claiborne County, a man died after a tree fell on a car. The powerful weather left behind flooding, damaged trees, and left some roads impassible.

The Pigeon Forge Police Department shared that despite the closure of Waldens Creek Road at Goose Gap Road, there is still access to the Pigeon Forge Primary School via Goose Gap Road.
Additionally, The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency said Ridge Road will likely be closed for a few days.
Earlier in the day, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park reported that Cherokee Orchard Road was closed, but it has since reopened.
Thursday afternoon, crews were out working along Wiley Oakley Drive in Gatlinburg to clear the rockslide. Along with the dirt, trees, and vegetation, the landslide also seems to have knocked down some utility lines. WATE captured a utility pole and a utility line laying across a cabin’s railing.
In addition, the Sevier County Emergency Management Agency shared that Boogertown Road at Upper Middle Creek Road is passible, and Headrick Lead (N. Clear Fork Road) had one lane that is passable.
