    Two found dead during welfare check in Lake Tansi community

    CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two people were found dead during a welfare check Thursday night at a home in the Lake Tansi community.

    According to the sheriff’s office, deputies and investigators responded to the home in the 5000 block of Shoshone Loop around 10:13 p.m. after a call was sent to the Lake Tansi Security Office requesting a welfare check.

    Inside the home, security officers discovered a man and a woman dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies and investigators with CCSO then responded to the scene.

    The two found inside the home were identified by CCSO as Gary Agopsowicz, 56, and Angela Fifelski, 56. The sheriff’s office said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths in ongoing. The bodies were taken to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy.

    “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Gary Agopsowicz and
    Angela Fifelski. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this
    heartbreaking loss,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

    The sheriff’s office said there is no threat to public safety and no reason for concern.
