Southbound lanes of I-75 reopen after crash

ROCKY TOP, Tenn. ( WATE ) — All lanes are back open on southbound Interstate 75 following a crash that blocked traffic for hours Wednesday morning.

Traffic along I-75 South near Rocky Top on Wednesday morning had been diverted at exit 129 after an overnight multivehicle crash, according to updates from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. The lanes reopened just after 1 p.m.

TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi confirmed on social media that the crash involved two commercial vehicles and a passenger vehicle near mile marker 128. The TDOT SmartWay Map indicates the crash was initially reported just before 2 a.m.

At around 5:30 a.m., officials said the blockage of the southbound lanes was expected to be an extended closure and detour.
