KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville Area Transit will soon implement its new network of bus routes after years of discussion and planning. Fares will be free for the first two weeks after the launch to allow riders to get accustomed to the changes.

The new network will launch Monday, August 26. It is the culmination of the KAT Reimagined project which began in 2021 to improve reliability and increase access to jobs. A total of 20 routes are part of the new network that was approved in April. According to KAT, these routes will give 12,000 more residents access to buses every 15 minutes.
