    From the last out to the first pitch: Two Smokies games to air on 6 News

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — 6 News is teaming up with the Tennessee Smokies to broadcast two live baseball games on WATE Channel 6.

    On Sunday, September 15, the final regular season game for the Smokies at their ballpark in Kodak will be broadcast at 2 p.m. Then in the Spring, we will air the first pitch from the new Covenant Health Park in downtown Knoxville on April 15, 2025.

    The September 15 matchup will see the Smokies face the Birmingham Barons. For those who want to watch the game in person, tickets can be bought online starting at $11. Parking is also free at the Kodak stadium for the rest of the 2024 season .

    On April 15, the Smokies will face the Chattanooga Lookouts in the first game at Covenant Health Park after starting the 2025 season on the road . The return to Knoxville will also see the Tennessee Smokies return to its previous name; the Knoxville Smokies.

    Construction of the $117-million multiuse stadium remains on schedule after more than a year of work. The 7,500-seat stadium will also host One Knoxville SC games , concerts, and many other events. The target completion date is March 2025.
