Lenoir City, Tenn. (WATE) — Loudon’s Battle of the Bridge win streak has been extended to six straight as the Redskins blocked a last second field goal to secure the 7-6 win.

The Panthers got on the board first with a 43-yard field goal from Riley Pickett. Lenoir City held a 3-0 lead until 1.6 seconds left in the second quarter.

Loudon had a chance to take the lead as the Redskins moved the ball into the red zone with five minutes left in the opening half. However, the Lenoir City defense forced a turnover on downs and the ball was given right back to the Panthers.

The Redskins threatened again late in the second quarter, but Lenoir City’s defense came up big once again, this time forcing a fumble. Darius Bass scooped up the loose ball to set up the Panthers on the other end. Pickett hit another field goal to end the drive, this time from 33 yards, to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead at half.

Loudon finally found the end zone with 6:50 left in the game. Redskins’ quarterback Bronson Scrivner ran it in from a few yards out to give Loudon its first points, and first lead of the game. Before that touchdown, the Redskins were 0-for-3 inside the 20 yard line.

The Panthers had a chance to win the game on a last-second field goal, but Loudon blocked Pickett’s field goal to give the Redskins their sixth straight win against Lenoir City.
