    Vols set for primetime clash on 6 News against NC State

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Fresh off of an explosive win over Chattanooga in their season opener, Tennessee’s focus now turns to a neutral site game against NC State that fans can watch on WATE 6 News.

    The Duke’s Mayo Classic will see the Vols and Wolfpack square off at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 7. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on 6 News with ABC’s top broadcast team of Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, and Holly Rowe on the call. The 6 Sports Team will have a pre-game show at 10:30 a.m. building toward the game.

    The two programs haven’t played each other since Tennessee’s win in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Kickoff game in Atlanta. It will be the fifth game all-time between the two, with each team winning two of the previous four matchups.

    NC State began their season on Thursday, Aug. 29 with a 38-21 win over FCS side Western Carolina. The Wolfpack is just one of five Power 4 teams to win eight or more games in each of the last four seasons.
