    Suspect ‘Little Bill’ arrested after neighbor shot in LaFollette

    LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (WATE) — A man has been charged after a verbal altercation escalated into a shooting in LaFollette on Thursday, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

    On Thursday, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Chapman Crest Road in LaFollette because a man had reportedly been shot.

    When the deputies spoke with the victim, he told them “Little Bill” had shot him. The sheriff’s office said “Little Bill” was later identified as Jessie Phillip Comer , 76.

    During the investigation, deputies discovered that the neighbors had been involved in a verbal altercation that escalated, and Comer shot the victim with a BB or pellet gun, the sheriff’s office explained. The victim was taken to the LaFollette Helipad by ambulance and was then taken to UT Medical Center by Life Star.

    After searching throughout the night, Comer was located and arrested around 9:30 a.m. Friday. He was taken to the Campbell County Jail and was charged with aggravated assault.
