    ‘Always had a smile’: Family remembers Ky. firefighter who died while responding to mutual aid call

    PIKE COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — A Belfry, Kentucky firefighter who passed away Wednesday night while on a mutual aid call is being remembered by the community and his family.

    Darrell Helton with the Belfry Volunteer Fire Department passed away on a call for mutual aid for a neighboring fire department in Pike County.

    “He always had a smile and a servant’s heart,” Janie Harlow, Helton’s aunt, said. “He was loved by all, especially his family.”
