    Ex-employee of Union County Clerk’s Office charged with credit card fraud

    MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A former employee of the Union County Clerk’s Office has been charged following an investigation by state authorities.

    In August, special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began looking into allegations of misconduct involving a county clerk’s office employee.

    Whitney Goins, 38, faces one count of official misconduct and fraudulent use of a credit card. Investigators believe she fraudulently used a credit card she obtained from a citizen. She was arrested and booked into the Union County Jail on Monday. Her bond was set at $2,500.

    Goins was terminated from the clerk’s office last month, according to a TBI release.
