KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — A man is facing charges after authorities responded to an in-progress car burglary early Wednesday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Investigators search for suspect after vandalism at Austin-East

“The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cody Rowland , had three outstanding warrants, including for aggravated domestic assault and felony vandalism,” KPD stated in a release. “Additional charges are pending related to the car burglary.”

KPD officers responded to the car burglary just before 5 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Market Street, where two unidentified individuals had allegedly busted out a car window. The KPD officers then spotted a possible suspect in the area of Summit Hill Drive and Central Street, later identified as Rowland, who ran from officers and was eventually located and captured in Market Square.

“We appreciate the quick response of our officers and their daily efforts to keep our community safe,” KPD concluded in its release. Details regarding the second person believed to be involved in the car burglary were not yet available.
