Memphis man arrested after shooting at Clinton Highway McDonald’s

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Memphis man is facing multiple aggravated assault charges after Knoxville police said he was accused of shooting at people at a McDonald’s on Clinton Highway Wednesday evening.

According to KPD, officers arrived at the restaurant in the 6700 block of Clinton Highway around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a man firing a gun at multiple people. The officers located the man, identified by KPD as Antonio Fontaine, 47, of Memphis, in the parking lot with a loaded handgun. Police said he was immediately taken into custody.

KPD said an employee of the McDonald’s told police that he heard five or six shots being fired and saw Fontane fire shots into the McDonald’s. Fontaine was also accused of pointing the handgun at multiple McDonald’s employees as they attempted to run from the store to safety.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Knoxville Police said it is believed Fontaine was involved in a domestic-related shooting before he arrived at the McDonald’s. No injuries were reported in that shooting, which is still under investigation by Knoxville Police.

Fontaine was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, five counts of aggravated assault, one count of reckless endangerment, and two counts of simple possession, according to court records. Knoxville Police said additional or upgraded charges are possible as the investigation continues.
