    Two dead after Knoxville crash involving box truck, motorcycle

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people died on Sunday after a multivehicle crash in Knoxville .

    On Monday morning, the Knoxville Police Department shared more details from the incident, stating in a news release, “Based on the investigation conducted at the scene and witness statements, it is believed that the motorcycle was driving recklessly when it collided with the truck, which was nearly stopped and preparing to make a right turn at the time of the collision.”

    KPD had announced just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday that officers were responding to a serious crash on Cedar Lane at Central Avenue Pike. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.

    At 10:05 p.m., KPD released an update that the crash involved a box truck and a motorcycle with two riders. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was transported to a hospital with critical injuries. The person who was transported to the hospital later died from their injuries.

    Ooops early reactions were how people need to watch for motorcycles and assumed it was the trucks fault. Silence from those folks now.
