KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A daughter continuing to fight for justice in finding her mother’s killer.

On September 15, 2007, the Knoxville Police Department responded to a call about a body found in a secluded area off Hoitt Avenue near Boone Street. The body was identified as 24-year-old Jennifer Leeann Law .

“My dad pulled my sister and me into the room and just told us the best way he could,” Ciera Law, Leeann’s daughter said. “It was a really difficult day.”

Ciera was just 10 years old when her mother was killed. She described her mother as being loving and caring.

“She loved being a mother. She loved being there for us, dolling us up, buying us things, she just loved her girls,” Ciera said.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, Leeann had bruises on her arms and face that were consistent with some type of struggle. She was strangled to death and her body was burned after she died.

“I’m a mother myself and I just know a lot of the things that she has missed out on,” Ciera said. “Things that she hasn’t been there for us for hasn’t been able to teach us, and we had to learn from other people.”

Knoxville Police Spokesperson Scott Erland released a statement to 6 News that says:

“KPD detectives have devoted countless hours to the investigation into Jennifer Leeann Law’s murder, and they will continue to work tirelessly to identify the person or persons responsible for her death. We remain hopeful that those efforts will result in justice for Jennifer, her family and those who loved her. We strongly encourage anybody with information about Jennifer’s death, no matter how big or small, to contact our department. Anyone with information can call East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165 or the Homicide Unit directly at 865-215-7317 . We appreciate anyone who comes forward with tips that could assist the work that detectives are doing to hold those responsible for Jennifer’s murder accountable.”
