    Driver charged with DUI after pedestrian killed in Knox County crash

    KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville man is facing charges after a crash on Murphy Road late Thursday night left a person dead.

    Tennessee Highway Patrol has released its preliminary report in the crash, which states Aldo Weddington, 45, is facing charges of driving under the influence and driving without a license.

    The report states that Weddington was the driver of a 2018 Chevy Equinox that was travelling east on Murphy Road around 9 p.m. when it struck a pedestrian. Court records add that the crash happened near the intersection of Shannon Valley Farms Boulevard. The report continues to state that after the collision, the Equinox came to a rest in the roadway.

    A general sessions docket explains that the THP trooper responded to the scene reported that the pedestrian who was struck died at the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s report identifies the victim as Alexandre Azarenok, 65, of Tennessee.

    Weddington is scheduled to appear in court next on Monday, September 23.
