    Thousands without power as storms move through East Tennessee

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Thousands across East Tennessee lost power as storms moved through the region on Friday.

    Storm Team 6 is Weather AWARE as another round of heavy rain and strong, potentially damaging winds are expected as the remnants of Helene move through the area. High wind and flood warnings were issued for several counties, including Blount, Knox and Sevier Counties. To see current weather alerts, click here.

    • Morristown Utilities: 100
    • LaFollette Utilities: 998
    • Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative: 41
    • Clinton Utility Board: 295
    • Appalachian Electric Cooperative: 6,621
    • Newport Utilities: 3,017
    • Powell Valley Electric Cooperative: 8,846
    • Knoxville Utilities Board: 4,563
    • Lenoir City Utilities Board: 25
    • Volunteer Energy Cooperative: 301

    The storms have already led to several school and road closures throughout the area . In Carter County, Roan Mountain has been evacuated .

    Why does the power go out because of wires being above ground, if cyber optics can be underground why can electric wires. If you say it cost to much oh you mean like sending trillion dollars abroad that kind of money well believe me the money is there along with training people to cope with issues.
