SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Critically low water levels in Sevier County have led to calls for people to conserve water.

The Sevier County Water Department is asking people in the following areas “to conserve water and use it only in the event of necessity due to critically low levels:”

    • Jones Cove Road
    • Richardson Cove Road
    • Bogard Road
    • Pearl Valley Road

“Potable (drinking) water levels are currently at a critical low status, and residents in the affected areas are at risk of temporarily losing water service. The Sevier County Water Department asks all customers in the impacted areas to minimize water use immediately and reserve it for emergency purposes only.”

The Newport Utility District supplies water to these areas, but the utility is facing significant flood-related issues. As a result, the Sevier County Water Department might not be able to provide water to the mentioned area.
