BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Tennessee Gov. Lee and Sen. Marsha Blackburn visited the Northeast Tennessee region on Saturday to tour and assess flood damage.

“I am heartbroken by the devastating damage in East Tennessee caused by the horrific storm,” said Senator Blackburn. “Thank you to our first responders, Tennessee National Guard, TEMA, and the countless other agencies that have been working around the clock to rescue Tennesseans.”

According to a media advisory from Gov. Lee’s office, the pair joined TEMA Director Patrick Sheehan and other state officials to view flood damage from the air.

Gov. Lee assured Northeast Tennesseeans that the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) would issue warnings about the dams if needed.

“Shocking and heartbreaking” is how Gov. Lee described the devastation to the region.
