GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The body of a missing 32-year-old man has been recovered from a creek that feeds into the Nolichucky River in Greeneville.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the body of Boone McCrary, of Greeneville, was located by a search team around 2 p.m. on Tuesday near W. Allen’s Bridge Road.

Friday afternoon around 7 p.m., McCrary, a female occupant, and a labrador retriever launched a boat into the Nolichucky River near Bird’s Bridge. The TWRA said the boat was swept into the bridge and capsized, sending the occupants into the water.

The female occupant was safely rescued. McCrary, his dog, and the boat were swept downstream in the raging river current, the TWRA said. The boat and dog were located Sunday afternoon by TWRA wildlife officers. The dog did not survive.

“TWRA offers prayers and condolences to McCrary’s family and loved ones. The incident remains under investigation,” the TWRA wrote.
