Knoxville Police investigate shooting near gas station on Chapman Highway

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place near a gas station on Chapman Highway Friday afternoon.

Knoxville Police released that around 5 p.m. officers responded to a shooting near Casey’s convenience store in the 4600 block of Chapman Highway. Officers found a woman outside of her car. KPD said she had been shot at least once and was taken to UT Medical Center with critical injuries.

KPD added that officers learned the shooter left in a black SUV, which was found at the Executive Inn on Chapman Highway. Efforts remain ongoing to find the shooter.
