KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knox County man is being called a “good neighbor” after he noticed a house fire, work the people inside the home and then tried to battle the blaze until firefighters arrived, Rural Metro Fire said.

According to the fire department, crews responded to the scene of the fire in the 1100 block of Albany Road in West Knox County around 6 a.m. When they got there, they found the man outside working to extinguish the fire he noticed on his neighbor’s house.

Rural Metro said the neighbor had alerted the people who were sleeping inside the home to the fire, and his work to battle the blaze kept damage to the home minimal.
