Middle school student arrested for threat at Karns Middle School

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — An eighth-grade Gresham Middle School student has been arrested and charged with making a threat of mass destruction against Karns Middle Schools, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, KCSO released that Karns Middle School had been evacuated due to a threat that morning.

In addition to Knox County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Detective Unit and school officers, KCSO explosive device detection dogs were deployed and searched the school.

KCSO shared that the arrest was made just before 2 p.m. According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation into the threat remains active.
