GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WATE) — With there being a possibility for snow overnight, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has shared that it is closing US 441/Newfound Gap Road beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Due to forecasted ice and snow for areas over 4,000 feet between Tuesday and Wednesday, the road closed to all traffic at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Park staff will reassess road conditions Wednesday morning to determine when it can reopen.
