LENOIR CITY, Tenn. ( WATE ) — One lane remains open after the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the split in Loudon County had closed following a rollover and secondary crash Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office, and a deputy was nearly struck.

All lanes of I-75 reopened around 11:30 a.m., according to LCSO.

One lane of I-75 South reopened just before 7 a.m. The Tennessee Highway Patrol was at the scene investigating the traffic accident, according to LCSO spokesperson Cpl. Cody Bengel, who shared the update.

“Crews are continuing to clear the wreck from the interstate,” Bengel said in an update at 10:31 a.m. “There is currently no ETA of how long the interstate will be down to one lane.”

“Please seek alternate routes down I-40 West at the I-75/I-40 interchange,” Bengel initially shared in an email about the incidents.

Bengel also said that the southbound lanes near mile marker 84 were shut down due to the rollover involving a semi-truck with the driver suffering minor injuries; then, a secondary non-injury wreck occurred involving a sedan and another semi-truck.

“This secondary wreck almost struck a deputy who was on foot and attempting to check on the injured driver of the first accident,” Bengel stated. “Please slow down and move over!”

First responders from the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, and Priority Ambulance were currently on the scene as of 6:30 a.m.

“Please continue to use caution, slow down, and move over,” Cpl. Bengel stated in an update.
