SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville man has been charged after the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said he attempted to meet a person who he thought was a teenager he had been chatting with online for a sexual encounter.

Instead, the sheriff’s office said the “teen” was an SCSO Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator posing as a 13-year-old in a lengthy online chat operation.

Throughout the investigation, the sheriff’s office said the agent established contact with Howard G. Rupprecht, 34, of Knoxville.

On October 7, the sheriff’s office said Rupprech traveled to an area in Seymour to meet the person he thought was a 13-year-old for a sexual encounter. Instead, he was met with SCSO deputies and was taken into custody.

Rupprecht was charged with one count of solicitation of a minor. He was booked into the Sevier County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

OK the $2500 bond is a joke. This is a sickening crime. No bond should be allowed for sexual predators caught in the act. IMO
