KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Karns broke a five-game losing streak thanks in part to the heroics of our Pella Player of the Week— Avery Westfield. The senior tallied 213 rushing yards, 80 passing yards, and three touchdowns.
“I’m most proud of just going out there and getting the win with my teammates,” Westfield said when asked what he was most proud of when it came to his efforts against Campbell County.
“Being able to make plays in space. And just when I get the ball in space, making guys miss and stuff like that just not doing too much, not trying to.”
Westfield referred to the motto “Karns is Karns,” something the Beavers have embodied this year.
“It means to go out there and prove everybody wrong that doubted that said that we couldn’t do it, just going out there and scoring and getting wins and just competition with everybody that they said that we couldn’t,” Westfield said.
Westfield is enjoying his final season of high school football.
“It’s meant a lot. It really hasn’t hit me yet it’s really just crazy that it went by so fast,” he said. “It went by in the blink of an eye but I’m just gonna try to make the best of it and just keep playing and competing as much as I can.”
