More than 13k people voted in Knox County on the first day of early voting

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — While long lines for early voting were seen across Knox County and the state as a whole , no records were broken. A total of 176,404 people cast their ballot on the first day of early voting, with an additional 40,033 absentee ballots being received.
According to the Tennessee Secretary of State, Shelby, Knox, and Rutherford Counties saw the highest turnout on Oct. 16, 2024. In Knox County, a total of 13,059 people voted early with the most popular voting location being Farragut with 1,942 voters according to the election commission.
Early voting for the State and Federal Primary and County General election runs Monday to Saturday until Thursday, Oct. 31. Absentee ballots can be requested until October 29.
