KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — The Concord Park Par 3 golf course in West Knox County reopened this week after renovations.

Knox County Parks & Recreation officials have been working to improve the golfing experience at the course, which is located along Northshore Drive overlooking Fort Loudon Lake.

More than 13k people voted in Knox County on the first day of early voting

“Over the last few years, our golf programs have grown by leaps and bounds,” said Joe Mack, senior director of the Knox County Parks and Recreation Department. “We are providing recreational golf opportunities to more people than ever, and the improvements we have made at Concord Park Golf Course will make those experiences even better.”

According to the county, the golf course renovations included a complete overhaul of the greens. The county also shared that the new turf at Concord Par 3 was highly recommended by the University of Tennessee’s agronomy professors Jim Brosnan and Brandon Horvath.

After years of planning, $1.2m project to transform downtown Knoxville park nears completion

“Our Parks Department worked with the University of Tennessee’s agronomy department to incorporate native grasses into the turf and complete the project at a fraction of the projected cost,” Mayor Glenn Jacobs stated in a news release prior to his Friday update.

The golf course is a popular destination for locals wanting to try their hand on the green. The county’s Parks & Rec website indicates that the course features a clubhouse and practice green; while also offering lessons by PGA professionals, clinics, leagues for children, men, and women, and tournament play.
